Install and Start FM AI Assistent

1. Download the application

Open the latest GitHub release. The packaged desktop application is recommended; a native image and Java 25+ JAR are also documented. Choose an asset for Windows or Linux as identified by that release.

2. Start both applications

Start Football Manager 2026 and fully load a save.
Launch FM AI Assistent as the same computer user.
If a browser does not open, visit http://127.0.0.1:8080.
If 8080 is already occupied, check the startup log for 8081, 8082 or the next selected port.

3. Load your save data

Select Load data. Wait for the player, staff, club and competition phases to complete. You can now browse those tabs without configuring an AI provider.

4. Add an assistant (optional)

Codex

Install Codex CLI, select Codex in the AI assistant and complete the ChatGPT sign-in. If the FM tools are unavailable, add the local MCP endpoint:

GitHub Copilot

Install Copilot CLI, use the embedded GitHub sign-in, and add the local endpoint when it is not already listed:

Antigravity

Install and sign in to Antigravity, configure fm-ai-assistent at the local MCP URL and merge the documented FM26 tool permissions into your existing settings. The repository README has the current complete permission list.

OpenRouter

Select OpenRouter, submit the masked API key and choose a route or model. Free capacity and limits are not guaranteed. Paid models and the Auto router may incur charges and require confirmation.

5. Control context

Open Context to enable or disable managed-club and tactic information. Add an exported .fmf tactic if your question depends on roles or instructions.

6. Refresh when needed

Select Load data again after opening another save, changing clubs or advancing to information you need updated.

Troubleshooting

No FM26 data is found

Confirm FM26 is running and the save is fully loaded.
Run both applications as the same computer user and, on Windows, at the same administrator level.
Select Load data again.

An agent is unavailable

Install its CLI, finish the normal account login and restart FM AI Assistent so it can detect the command.

The app does not open

Open the loopback URL manually. Desktop logs are stored at ~/.fm-ai-assistent/fm-ai-assistent.log.

Install and start FM AI Assistent.
